League of Prizren Museum
Walled museum complex on the site where the Albanian League of Prizren was proclaimed in 1878.
The complex marks the place where delegates met on 10 June 1878 to proclaim the Albanian League of Prizren, the first organised political and military movement of the Albanian national awakening. The buildings around the courtyard were laid out as a museum between 1976 and 1978 for the centenary of the assembly. The main hall reconstructs the meeting room, while the surrounding rooms trace the League's short life, its leading figures and the diplomacy of the period.
Beyond the League building itself, the walled site takes in a library and reading room, an art gallery, a medrese, the sixteenth-century Gazi Mehmet Pasha Mosque and a turbe, together with houses of the old quarter. The collections hold close to a thousand objects, split between historical material, ethnographic pieces such as costume and weaponry, and works of art. The residence building was destroyed in 1999 and rebuilt in 2000.
