Aviva Studios
A vast new arts venue, home of Factory International and Manchester International Festival.
Aviva Studios is the permanent home of Factory International, the organisation behind Manchester International Festival. Built on the former Granada Studios site by the River Irwell in the St John's neighbourhood, it hosted its first events during the 2023 festival and officially opened in October 2023.
Designed by OMA under Ellen van Loon, the building is a highly flexible arts space combining a large-scale warehouse that can be configured for immersive installations, concerts and exhibitions with a steeply raked auditorium known as The Hall. It presents year-round music, theatre, dance, visual art and large-scale commissions alongside the biennial festival.
