Napa Music Hall
The 1879 Napa Valley Opera House, reopened in 2026 as a two-room live music venue downtown.
The Napa Valley Opera House was built in 1879 in the Italianate style to designs by the brothers Samuel and Joseph Cather Newsom, with shops at street level and a theatre above. It opened in February 1880 with Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore and served the town for two decades before vaudeville and then cinema drew audiences away; the auditorium stood dark from 1914. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was painstakingly restored by a community trust, reopening for performance in 2002.
For nine years from 2016 the upper hall housed Blue Note Napa, a West Coast outpost of the New York jazz club, which closed at the end of 2025. The owner, John Anthony Truchard, who also owns Napa's Uptown Theatre, reworked the building as Napa Music Hall and opened it in June 2026. It now has two spaces: the Ballroom upstairs, a standing-room hall for about 650 people, and The Club downstairs, an intimate room seating around 160 for jazz, acoustic sets and comedy.
