Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro
Contemporary art museum in the former Petrović Palace, set in the Kruševac park in Podgorica.
The museum occupies the Petrović Palace, built in 1891 in the Kruševac park as a residence for Prince, later King, Nikola I Petrović. After the Second World War the building served various public uses before being restored as a gallery. It became the home of the Centre of Contemporary Art of Montenegro in 1995, and in 2023 that body was merged with the gallery of non-aligned art to create the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro.
The collection covers Montenegrin art from the twentieth century onwards together with the holdings of the former Josip Broz Tito Art Gallery of the Non-Aligned Countries, an unusual assembly of works given to Yugoslavia by states across Africa, Asia and Latin America. The museum works across three sites in Podgorica: the palace itself, the nearby Perjanik House, and a separate gallery. It also organises Montenegro's national participation at the Venice Biennale.
