teamLab Borderless
Immersive digital artworks that move beyond rooms and merge into one continuous world.
teamLab Borderless is a large digital art museum from the Tokyo art collective teamLab. It has no set route and no map. Projected artworks leave their rooms, drift into corridors and blend into nearby works, so visitors explore by wandering and finding things for themselves.
The museum first opened in 2018 in Odaiba's Palette Town. It drew very large crowds and became one of the world's most visited single-artist museums. That site closed in August 2022 because the area was being redeveloped. In February 2024 the museum reopened in the basement of Azabudai Hills in central Tokyo, a new complex built by Mori Building.
Most works react to the people in them. Flowers bloom and scatter as visitors move, and landscapes change with the real seasons. Creatures and patterns from one space can travel into another. Besides the main Borderless World, there are the Light Sculpture – Flow spaces, Bubble Universe, a hands-on Future Park and Sketch Factory, and EN TEA HOUSE, where digital flowers bloom in your tea.
