Grand Palais
A vast glass-roofed exhibition hall built for the 1900 World’s Fair.
Built for the 1900 Exposition Universelle between the Champs-Élysées and the Seine, the Grand Palais is one of the defining monuments of Belle Époque Paris. Its stone facades, lined with colonnades and sculpture, wrap around a huge nave covered by a riveted steel and glass roof, among the largest of its kind in the world.
After a major restoration it reopened in stages around the 2024 Olympic Games and 2025, with its nave, galleries and public areas reconnected. Today it hosts blockbuster art exhibitions run by GrandPalaisRmn, major fairs such as Art Basel Paris and Fine Arts Paris, performances and large events staged beneath the glass roof.
