Fondation Louis Vuitton
Frank Gehry’s glass-sailed art foundation in the Bois de Boulogne.
The Fondation Louis Vuitton is a private art museum and cultural centre on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne, beside the Jardin d'Acclimatation in western Paris. Created by the LVMH group under Bernard Arnault, it opened in 2014 and presents modern and contemporary art from its own collection alongside large temporary exhibitions, concerts and talks.
Frank Gehry's building is its main draw: twelve huge curved glass 'sails' wrap around a white core known as the iceberg, suggesting a ship moving through the trees. Inside, eleven galleries spread over several levels, and a series of open-air terraces look out over the woods towards La Défense and the Paris skyline.
